First written in the mid 00’s and now updated, Jeff Collins delves into a little of the history of Welsh recording studio Rockfield – the little studio that could, you might say – but this book is more about the many bands who recorded there, and the amazing music it served as the conduit for.

From Black Sabbath, Budgie and Rush to Oasis, Stone Roses and Kasabian by way of Robert Plant, The Darkness, Hawkwind, Motorhead, Thunder, Opeth and many more, Rockfield has given birth to many, many classics.

Not least of which is Queen‘s magnificent Bohemian Rhapsody, and with many interviews from band members, roadies, roducers and engineers, there is no shortage of behind the scenes shenanigans to be shared from the UK‘s first ever residential studio.

Collins even engineered a reunion of Robert Plant’s first solo band at Rockfield on the 25th anniversary of the recording of his first post-Zeppelin album, Pictures At Eleven.

It’s a fascinating look behind the scenes into music made at this pivotal studio, and for more about the actual studio itself follow reading this with a viewing of 2020 documentary Rockfield – The Studio On The Farm.
