Last night to a packed audience at The Orleans Showroom in The Orleans Hotel and Casino, Jewel entertained the crowd with an acoustic set and a Q&A that included a sneak peek of scenes from the Lifetime Original Movie “Ring of Fire, in which she stars as June Carter Cash.  As part of THE ACM EXPERIENCE, the evening was moderated by CMT Radio Live’s Cody Alan, with Reba, Kelly Clarkson and Kix Brooks watching from the audience.  Jewel talked about the influences that June Carter Cash and Johnny Cash had on country music and how she prepared for the role while balancing being a new mom (her first project after having a baby). Contrary to initial fan belief, Jewel did not straighten her teeth in order to transform into June, but she did wear dentures so viewers wouldn’t be distracted by her trademark “snaggletooth.” “I was smiling like a beauty queen in the mirror because I had never seen myself with straight teeth!”  John Carter Cash joined her for a performance of “Storms Are On The Ocean,” and talked about how he “felt the spirit of his mom in the room” and the immediate calm he felt upon hearing Jewel would be playing the role.  In addition to singing “Wildflower,” Jewel performed “My Father’s Daughter,” which was prefaced with humorous tales about performing with her father at an early age – “I was the only 4th grader who went straight from school to the bar.”  She brought the house down at the end of the night by singing “Ring of Fire” and yodeling an old folk song from her childhood.

“Ring of Fire” will make its world premiere on Lifetime on Monday, May 27 at 8:00pm ET/PT.
