More Laughs, More Legends: Perth Comedy Festival Unveils More Talent for 2025
Get ready for a month of side-splitting comedy as the Perth Comedy Festival returns from April 21 to May 18 taking over iconic venues including the Regal Theatre, the Astor Theatre, the Rechabite Hall and Goodwill Club in Northbridge, and Freo Social. As always, this year’s festival promises a stellar lineup of international, national and local comedic talent.
New additions to the program include comedians from Canada, the United Kingdom, New Zealand and across Australia.
New Zealand’s Rhys Darby (NZ), best known for his roles in Flight of the Conchords, What We Do In The Shadows and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, brings The Legend Returns to the Regal Theatre on April 27 and 28. After a five-year haitus from Perth, Rhys’ return is sure to be a treat for fans.
Ian Bagg (CAN), renowned for his no-holds barred crowd work, brings his new show This B*tch Live to Rechabite Hall on May 8. With over two decades of experience and appearances on The Tonight Show and Comedy Central, Ian’s fearless, quick one-liners will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Kiri Pritchard-McLean (UK), multi award-winning satirist and host of the hit podcast ALL KILLA NO FILLA, joins fellow co-host Rachel Fairburn (UK) at the Goodwill Club on April 27, following their ALL KILLA NO FILLA show at Rechabite Hall on April 26, where they’ll explore their shared fascination with serial killers, discussing all things murder and macabre while delivering plenty of laughs.
Other UK acts include the award-winning inventive and absurd Elf Lyons (UK), Sara Pascoe (UK) whose observational comedy spans everything from relationships to social norms, Ed Gamble (UK) who is best as the co-host of the popular podcast OFF THE MENU with fellow comedian James Acaster, and Paul Taylor (UK) who offers a mix of self-deprecating and insightful humour and is one of the hottest new talents to come out of the United Kingdom.
The Australian contingent is packed with homegrown talent. Joel Creasy brings his show Thanks For Being Here to the Regal Theatre on May 17, while rising star Jacques Barrett performs OK Boomer also on May 17 (and 16) at the Regal. Jenny Tian, a Chinese-Australian comedian with 28.4 million TikTok followers and 461K YouTube subscribers, performs her unique style of comedy at the Regal Theatre on April 26.
Bob Downe delivers his kitsch comedy at the Regal Theatre on May 1, followed by Sammy J on May 9, bringing sharp political satire to the stage. Geraldine Hickey (May 10, Astor Theatre), known for her LGBTQIA+ comedy, and Lou Wall (May 10, Rechabite Hall), offering politically savvy, genre-bending humour, are both must-see performances.
Tommy Little (May 16 and 17, Astor Theatre) brings his trademark infectious energy, Connor Burns takes the stage at Rechabite Hall on May 10, and Ivan Aristeguieta (May 9, Regal Theatre) delights as Australia’s favourite adopted Venezuelan.
Wrapping up the month, He Huang (May 18, Regal Theatre), known for her dry, deadpan humour, brings her unique perspective to the stage. After standout performances on Australia’s Got Talent, He has cemented herself as a rising star in the Australian comedy scene.
