Like Wow! For over three decades the Hoodoo Gurus have consistently been one of the most inventive, lyrically smart and goddamn exciting rock’n’roll bands Australia has ever produced. Along the way they’ve influenced an entire generation of bands including the likes of You Am I, The Living End, Dallas Crane, Grinspoon and many others.

Hoodoo Gurus, by any measure, are one of Australia’s greatest, best loved and most enduring rock bands – their new set “Be My Guru” marks the first time, of which all original and present members have played together on stage. The legendary ARIA of Fame inductees are coming to Perth for this exclusive & special Hoodoo Gurus show. Their current album, Purity of Essence, was released on 12 March 2010.

Ratcat set the indie music scene alight, causing a stir amongst the major labels in 1990 with their Tingles EP and became known for their pop / punk guitar rock. They hit the big time by grabbing the coveted No. 1 spot on the ARIA chart for their smash single That Ain’t Bad. A year later, they went on to release their landmark album, Blind Love, which saw them at the top of the mainstream charts again with both the album and single, Don’t Go Now, peaking at No. 1. In 1998, Ratcat performed with new bassist, Nic Dalton (The Lemonheads among others), at the Homebake Festival. It’s been 20 years since they’ve played in Perth.

Local Perth band, Jebediah, formed in 1994 and a year later, had labels chasing them. Over the years, they’ve picked up opening slots for Beck, Sonic Youth, Pavement, Presidents of the USA, Everclear and scored a support spot on The Smashing Pumpkins Australian tour in 1998. They’ve performed at Homebake, The Falls Festival, Livid & Pushover. They became the festival darlings and secured their first national Big Day Out in 1999. Their debut 1997 album, Slightly Odway, was certified 2 x platinum and made them one of the top live acts in the country. Their late 1999 follow-up, Of Someday Shambles, hit platinum status also. They’ve had a seemingly endless string of Triple J favourites and have dominated the airwaves at alternative & commercial radio.

Since British India, first appeared on the live scene, critical interest swept over the band and Triple J took them under their wings. The success of their 2007 debut album, Guillotine, was immediate and they went on to win the Australian Independent Record (AIR) Award for Best New Independent Artist. They’ve conquered the stage, played to an array of sold out shows and music festivals including Big Day Out, Homebake, Golden Plains, The Falls Festival, Splendour in the Grass, Pyramid Rock Festival,Groovin’ the Moo and Come Together Music Festival. They have since released three other albums, have nailed three ARIA Top 10 debuts, multiple ARIA & J Award nominations and have had five entries into the triple J Hottest 100 over the course of their career.

This will be a massive Sunday session and a great day of rock n roll, in a superb outdoor venue – It doesn’t get better than this!
