Not that it matters, but full disclosure – I am a huge fan on Black Veil Brides and have been since the beginning. There was something about the energy and then the music got better and better with each outing and my enjoyment of their music and the visual presentation grew. Same can be said for their latest offering, the three-track EP Bleeders. Disc opener and title track “Bleeders” is an very cool track that digs back into the early catalog with some heavy bottom end and very familiar growls and vocals from frontman and band founder Andy Biersack. The chugging riffs from the tandem of Jinxx and Jake Pitts show the combination of roots and growth on this track as well as the next track. As with prior EPs, the band opted to cover a well known song with their version of U2’s “Sunday Bloody Sunday” up next. While no “Unholy” or “Rebel Yell,” this is a cool version that stays very true to the original with glimmers of the bands stamp and sound being draped over it lightly. Closing out the EP is “My Friends” from the musical Sweeny Todd and this is killer. I am a lover of musicals and to hear Biersack sing these lyrics overtop some cool guitar work and orchestration marries the different music types I love. Be sure to hang out long enough to check out the bridge and breakdown that features a heavy rhythm section of drummer Christian Coma and bassist Lonny Eagleton. We’ve had Paul Stanley and Sebastian Bach on Broadway… is Andy next? Who knows, but with songs and releases like this short collection, I don’t see him locking up his touring shoes any time soon. Check this disc out and then grab tickets for the bands various dates out there this summer and fall.
