Deathcore giants Fit For An Autopsy made a stop in Nashville on Sunday at The Basement East, as they continue their tour supporting their latest album, Oh What the Future Holds. I haven’t attended a show at this venue since a tornado destroyed a large portion of the building in early 2020 – and I was very happy to see how it has bounced back. This event was extra special for fans in both Nashville and worldwide, because the entire show was livestreamed online. The show opened up with four heavy bands delivering blistering breakdowns and harsh vocals: Great American Ghost, Signs of the Swarm, Enterprise Earth (with Travis Worland filling in on vocals), and Ingested. All four bands took the stage like headliners, inspiring endless headbanging and violence in the crowd. Circle pits, walls of death, and crowd killers dominated the center of the room. Fit For An Autopsy kept the night rowdy, delivering a setlist full of old favorites and a few new songs from their new album. I’ve personally loved this band for several years and this is the strongest I’ve seen them play live. Vocalist Joe Bad is regarded as a top vocalist in the genre, so it’s impressive seeing him perform. The sound and energy stayed strong throughout their set – enough to inspire me to give a close friend my camera bag and throw myself into the chaos during “Hydra” and “Heads Will Hang”. Luckily, any small technical difficulties went mostly unnoticed. I do think Fit For An Autopsy delivered one of the best metal shows to come through Nashville in a while, and it’s easily my favorite show of 2022 so far. Several shows on this tour have sold out and it’s clear that this band – and all the supporting bands – are at the top of their game.
Setlist: The Sea of Tragic Beasts – Absolute Hope Absolute Hell – Far From Heaven – Your Pain Is Mine – Pandora – Do You See Him? – Tremors – Hydra – Heads Will Hang – In Shadows – Iron Moon – Black Mammoth – Warfare
