Just because he made Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Poltergeist, doesn’t mean everything he touched was gold. Tobe Hooper made The Funhouse, inexplicably, only a year before Poltergeist – and it couldn’t be more of a contrast. Where the latter is slick and gripping, this is pretty much schlock from start to finish.
Four teenage kids decide to spend the night in a carnival funhouse, with predictably dire results. There are “carnival freaks” a plenty, and enough clowns to give anyone bad dreams.
There you go – saved you the time.
Some other stuff you might dig
