Sally Wise, author, teacher and radio personality from Tasmania, brings us 100 new recipes with perfect timing to fire up the slow cooker as winter charges towards us.
Wise knows her stuff, successfully demystifying less traditional uses for a slow cooker, such as a meatloaf-like Herbed Salmon Loaf with Warm Tomato Salsa; Steamed Fish Buns; Citrus Sponge Cake; and Baked Lemon, Ricotta & Ginger Cheesecakes.
There’s loads of more traditional, braised recipes as well, from curries and soups to Boulliabaise and pot roasts, but it’s using our slow cookers for different styles of cooking, such as dry baking and roasting, that we all – even us chefs – most need instruction in.
Wise’s dishes are lovingly photographed, written simply, and well within the reach of the home cook, making this a very handy book to have on the shelf year round, and especially as the cold weather approaches.
