New York, NY (October 25, 2016)—Eagle Rock Entertainment presents a Sunshine Pictures and Eagle Rock Film co-production We Wrote This Yesterday – a documentary of Mumford & Sons’ time in South Africa, directed by Sam Wrench and produced by Sophie Robinson. The film will premiere on Sunday, November 13 at 6:45PM at the SVA Theatre as part of the 7th annual DOC NYC, America’s largest documentary film festival.

We Wrote This Yesterday follows the collaborative process of Mumford & Sons with an esteemed collection of musical partners during their 2016 tour of South Africa. Inspired by their first trek through the territory, the band went into the studio with Baaba Maal, Mamadou Sarr, The Very Best, and Beatenberg. The blending of ideas and musical styles from Senegal, Sweden, Malawi, Cape Town, and London resulted in their acclaimed Johannesburg mini-album, recorded in just two days and released globally this past June.

We Wrote This Yesterday was filmed concurrently with Live From South Africa: Dust And Thunder — a concert film that will be released nationally in US theaters beginning November 15. Performing before 50,000 ecstatic fans in Pretoria, South Africa, Mumford & Sons and these acclaimed musicians perform a few of these new songs along with material from their most recent album Wilder Mind and early favorites. The palpable excitement in the air this night was undeniable– having never previously performed in the region, Mumford & Sons were in high demand. Although they originally intended to announce a handful of shows, the tour exploded into an overnight phenomenon, resulting in 85,000 ticket sales.
