Sharp and slick smoky lounge blues punctuated by searing guitar and a sophisticated, occasionally jazzy edge, Paul Winn Band’s live release comes with both a DVD and CD, recorded with crystal clarity live at Sydney’s Lazybones club.

Highlights include a funky take on ‘80s one hit wonders The Korgis’ Everybody’s Gotta Learn Sometime; the Rock Wilson harmonica-drenched Down So Long and I Like A Drink; and a beautifully regretful and heartstring-tugging Taylor.

With influence from the likes of Robert Cray, Dave Matthews and Robben Ford, plus funky, jazzy grooves a-plenty, Paul Winn is doing something different on the Australian blues scene and it’s well worth a listen.
