Water’s On Fire is the new come back single by The Tea Party, and it is absolutely not what I expected: a power ballad reminiscent of Seven Circles.
Now, one could hypothesise that they are starting where they left off, however, by all interview accounts this was their undoing and a really shit time for them… hence no Tea Party for ten plus years, so I’m not entirely convinced on this one.
One might also wonder if they are using a ballad to garner them a strong radio rotation (not in Australia though – God forbid music where the musicians can actually sing and play a plethora of instruments well would get any air time) – a cherished marketing tool for a band to make a great come back.
While I think the latter is more likely, this is The Tea Party and through past experience they are going to do whatever the hell they want this time around. It’s a good single and worth a listen but most fans will be looking forward to hearing the rest.
