Denver’s CHURCHILL To Release New Album This July; The War Within EP Out Today
Los Angeles, CA – April 23, 2013 – The buzz continues to grow for Denver band Churchill as A&M/Octone releases a 4-song EP, The War Within digitally today in anticipation of their new self-titled album this July, produced by Grammy award winner Brendan O’Brien and Joe Richmond from Churchill. The EP features the band’s current hit song “Change,” the new single “The War Within” and two more new tracks.
Esquire’s “Band to Watch,” Churchill is led by Tim Bruns (guitar/vocals), Bethany Kelly (piano/vocals), Mike Morter (mandolin/guitar), Joe Richmond (drums/producer) and Tyler Rima (bass). The music juxtaposes elements of timeless American roots, free-wheeling alt-country, rock attitude and nuanced arrangements includes mandolin, piano and guitar that capture the band’s kaleidoscopic sound.
“Churchill has always been a self-produced band, but we also worked with Brendan O’Brien, which was a great experience. Brendan brought a new perspective and lifted our sound – it’s fresh and evolved, but it is still Churchill,” says Joe Richmond. “We have been working on this album for over a year now and are excited for fans to hear the new music,” says Bethany Kelly.
The new album showcases Bruns and Kelly’s expressive voices and honest approach to songwriting. Churchill is an accumulation of new songs recorded on the road. It includes The War Within, which was written in a Austin hotel pool room “ and was one of the last songs we wrote for the record,” says Tim Bruns. “It’s a song about hope and knowing that when you are in a dark time there is always light at the end of the tunnel. We were instantly excited to play The War Within.”
The band just wrapped-up a tour with acclaimed singer-songwriter Phillip Phillips and are now joining international superstar P!nk on the sold out UK/European “The Truth About Love Tour” on April 24 with a four-night run at London’s O2 Arena. Starting mid July, they will join Denver stalwarts, One Republic on tour through mid September.
