The Croods movie

Watching The Croods on the big screen from the front row is almost enough to scramble the brain, as the titular family of cavemen and women indulge in what must be the fastest animated opening chase sequence ever, but this just sets the scene for the wonderful and dramatic tale which follows.

Leaving their barren rock cave for the first time in their lives, where family patriarch Grug (Nicholas Cage) has kept them safe, they embark on an action packed road trip through all manner of terrains – and all manner of dangers – each one of which is visually realised in its stunning colourful wonder.

Grug slowly realises that danger is a part of life, and new things needn’t be feared, and along with his beloved family overcomes obstacle after obstacle to keep them safe, even after the saddening realisation that thinking isn’t really his strong point!

Cage is joined by Emma Stone, Ryan Reynolds, Catherine Keener and Cloris Leachman on his journey, and together they make this story a treat for all ages.
