Adventures In Zambezia

Adventures In Zambezia, the latest animated offering from South Africa’s Triggerfish Studios, is a visually sumptious treat, featuring stunningly rendered waterfalls and jungle vistas and aerial views of the vast African continent.

It also features a surprisingly sophisticated and adult storyline revolving around Kai, a young falcon (voiced by Jeremy Suarez), who leaves his Dad Tendai (Samuel L Jackson) to travel to the lavish city of birds Zambezia to realise his dream of joining the famed protectors of the skies, The Hurricanes.

Fending off an attack by the duplicitous marabou, in league with evil egg-eating lizards, Kai learns the value of teamwork, family and duty, in true time-honoured animated movie fashion.

Visually rich it may be, but the story is a little complex and the film lacks the heart and soul which makes the best animated films so adorable to all ages.

Adventures In Zambezia is okay, but never rises above that.
