PAVEMENT ENTERTAINMENT Is Set Up and Making Strides
CHICAGO, IL – In the mid 90’s Pavement Entertainment was a premier Rock and Metal label founded by Owner/President Mark Nawara. Pavement secured a unique funding and distribution deal with Los Angeles based Zoo Entertainment/BMG who was home to Tool, Matthew Sweet, Green Jelly and others. The label went on to launch the careers of legendary heavy acts such as Crowbar, Malevolent Creation, The Gathering, At The Gates, Therion, Gorefest, Gilby Clarke, and others. Pavement also spawned releases by mainstay acts such as Scatterbrain, Accept, Kreator, Sodom, Autoraph, and Vader.
In 1997, Zoo Entertainment was dissolved and Pavement was put on hiatus. Sixteen years later Nawara has brought back the label under the moniker Pavement Entertainment. Bringing in longtime friend and cohort Tim King to handle A&R duties, the duo have secured heavy rock acts Hell Or High Water (featuring Brandon Saller of Atreyu), SOiL and Dark New Day (featuring members of Evanescence and Sevendust), along with Post Hardcore and extreme acts The Persevering Promise, I Killed Everyone, The Modern Age Slavery, and direct from The Netherlands female fronted The Charm The Fury.
Recently, Pavement entered into a unique distribution deal in North America with Sony’s RED Distribution via the legendary Megaforce Records who are schooled heavyweights of the industry boasting releases from Anthrax, Metallica, Ministry, The Black Crowes and more. Megaforce will assist Pavement in marketing and distribution. Distribution in the UK and Europe has been secured through RSK Entertainment and Japan is being handled by an artist by artist basis through Avalon Marquee.
“In these uncertain and changing times in the music business I felt it was just the right time to bring back the Pavement brand” says Nawara. “I’m excited to dig in and help bring some new artists to the forefront, while giving veteran bands a place to call home and have a relationship with the label as not just an artist, but as a true business partner.”
“It was a great opportunity for me to come aboard with Mark and Pavement” states Director of A&R Tim King. “Mark has been a close friend of mine for over 15 years. He’s always been the one person I could turn to in this crazy business for advice and honesty. I think together we are going to make some great things happen”.
