It is hard to review a disc recorded in a foreign language, but it is easier when the music is really good. That is the case with the debut release from Samaal. The music is very groove laden rock that is very reminiscent of 1970’s jam rock. This Finnish band has really captured a feel and era in their music that should be enjoyable to fans of rock that has a laid back approach. The vocals convey emotion and thoughts that allow for enjoyment regardless of the ability to understand the lyrics. The use of guitars and keyboards add to the disc and make this a good disc to throw on in the background while working, playing cards, or just hanging out. If you are looking for something different that looks at the roots of modern metal, give this one a chance. you just might find something new to keep in your listening rotation.
