YOUNG GUNS Announce North American Tour; Highest-Charting New Band at Active Rock in 2012
Los Angeles, CA (January 9, 2013) – Buzz continues to build for UK rock band YOUNG GUNS, who will be hitting the road with 10 Years for a string of dates set to kick off February 18th at the Exit/In in Nashville. Young Guns recently made headlines when Kerrang! magazine awarded their single, “Bones,” the No. 1 spot on its list of the “250 Greatest Rock Songs of 2012.” Now it’s the editors at Q Magazine who are praising the band for being at the forefront of The New NEW Wave of British Heavy Metal, and for “broadening the [genre’s] sound to the point where it’s closer to an amped-up version of alternative rock.”
In the February 2013 issue of Q, they describe this new musical movement as having “short hair, pop choruses and a huge, intensely devoted teenage following.” Unlike the original NWOBHM, which featured bands like Iron Maiden and Def Leppard, the magazine lauds the Young Guns-led new wave for being “a diverse and open-minded exciting subculture, ready to come in from the cold and reclaim its place at the heart of the British music scene.”
The band is also making its presence felt on this side of the pond, garnering heavy radio airplay for “Bones” while its companion video has racked up more than 1.3 million YouTube views. You can view the video here:. XBox Music spotlighted the band in their recent “Who’s Next Best of 2012,” placing Young Guns alongside artists like Alabama Shakes, Elle Varner and Two Door Cinema Club. Young Guns also holds the distinction of being the highest charting new band at Active Rock Radio on 2012 and are currently approaching the Top 10.
Young Guns are touring in support of their Wind-up debut, BONES, the album Revolver magazine described as “soaring yet muscular modern rock with enough bang to shake listeners to their bones.” Absolute Punk said the album will “rock your core” and Alternative Press wrote, “Young Guns are making waves the old-fashioned way – writing great songs and playing their hearts out every night.”
Over the course of the past few years, the London-based quintet (vocalist Gustav Wood, guitarists Fraser Taylor and John Taylor, bassist Simon Mitchell and drummer Ben Jolliffe) has emerged as one of the UK’s most electrifying new bands, garnering radio play and UK chart success while playing to packed-house crowds all across Europe, including a main stage performance at the Reading Festival, where they tore up the stage as part of a lineup that included Arcade Fire, Queens of the Stone Age, Guns N’ Roses and Modest Mouse.
