LIVE: LAUFEY – Perth | Boorloo, 25 July 2026

Laufey (pronounced Lay-vey, even though she’s been quoted loving her fans for trying to say it anyway they do – that’s better than not at all, after all) landed in Perth last night to kick off the Australian and New Zealand leg of her world tour. “Woah we’re back on tour – this is so exciting!!!” Having finished her US, UK, Europe and Asia legs, Laufey is undoubtedly becoming even more of a worldwide sensation with every performance she does.

Leonie Biney opened for Laufey at RAC Arena in Perth with a collection of mellow but sweet songs to perform. In between the stage transition from Leonie to Laufey multiple choice questions were displayed quizzing us about Laufey’s life – a fun addition to the wait time. Information about her not for profit foundation called the “Laufey Foundation” was also broadcasted on the screens. The Laufey Foundation aims to help educate and foster talent from young and upcoming generations of musicians, a beyond noble pursuit on behalf of this beautiful Icelandic musician.

As the curtains were drawn and “ACT l” was presented to us on the screen, a credit list of all the musicians and dancers who appeared on stage throughout the show rolled. Laufey came out in a beautiful beaded 2-piece orange set (being one of 4 costume changes throughout the night) opening with “Clockwork” and leading into “Lover Girl” by saying “Hey Perth, I hear there are a lot of lover girls here,” prompting an almost deafening roar from the audience.

One thing Laufey does flawlessly is foster her aesthetic through everything she does, from her carousel-esque archway on stage and her whimsical outfit changes to the montages projected to the stage background, making you feel like you’re trapped in a wonderland fantasy. Her dancers, who performed a medley of classical and ballet, wore blue ringleader-like leotards encrusted with gold bedazzlement and tassels – like her similarly sparkly water bottle. In her words, “everything deserves attention and to be bedazzled”. You can see the whimsy and charm in everything she does.

Laufey introduced her song “Bored” by asking, “has anyone here ever cried over a boring man?” again causing the audience to roar. The emotion she puts into her songs are so raw (which you only realise after processing her mesmerising voice) that I believe very few artists could make a song about leaving someone you love because they bore you so beautiful.

Act ll began with her asking, “are you ready for some jazz?” and inevitably the whole of Act ll was played as a more intimate version of a jazz session at the front of the stage, with Laufey and three musicians behind her playing medleys and mixed versions of some of her old songs like “Valentine” and “Fragile”.

Act lll involved yet another costume change, began with “Carousel,” and mostly contained songs from her new album “A Matter Of Time” which her tour is a product of. Act lV began with “Mr. Eclectic” and involved twice as much pizazz and wow factor than the rest of the show, leading us up to the final act, beginning with “Sabotage”.

Laufey is the definition of a multi-talented artist, not only singing, but playing acoustic guitar, electric guitar, piano and cello throughout the duration of this encapsulating concert. If you haven’t seen Laufey perform, you’re missing out and should probably do something about that.
