A Dirty Dozen with ROBERT GERSHAK from SAVING PHOENIX – November 2025
According to a recent press release: “Two dedicated metal music enthusiasts who aspire to make a significant contribution to the music industry once again. My passion for music was greatly influenced by my stepfather, who celebrated the dynamic sounds of the 1980s. Recently, I have partnered with a talented colleague who possesses a lifelong affinity for music. Together, we represent more than just a studio metal band; we are a vibrant collective that honors diverse musical genres, revitalizing our creative energy to produce innovative sounds. The team comprises: Bobby Gershak: Vocals, Bass, Guitars and Daniel Hansen: Recording Engineer, Lead Guitar, Guitars. Featuring drum tracks by Arnaud Krakowka, we invite you to accompany us on this exciting musical expedition. Let us collaborate to create something exceptional together.” We get Robert Gershak to discuss new music, influences, and more…
1. Tell us a little about your latest release. What might a fan or listener not grab the first or second time they listen through? Are there any hidden nuggets you put in the material or that only diehard fans might find?
Latest release was alot of fun to write. We were not rushed and listened to the old bands we grew up playing too. Going back to the roots moment.
2. What got you into music, and can you tell us about the moment you realize you wantedto be a musician?
My stepfather wrote and played music when I was younger. I realized it when I was 14. I wanted to play an instrument.
3. Building on that, is there a specific song, album, performer, or live show that guided your musical taste?
Metallica, Lamb of God, Killswitch Engage, Alice in Chains, and Sevendust.
4. If you could call in any one collaborator to do a song with, who would it be, and why?
Jerry Cantrell from Alice in Chains. Love his style of writing.
5. What is your favorite activity when out of the studio and/or not on tour? What do you like to do to unwind?
Karaoke, skateboard, and gaming.
6. How would you describe your music to someone who’d never listened to you before? What is the one comparison a reviewer or fan has made that made you cringe or you disagreed with?
Metal elements, alt and hard rock. We can write a heavy metal song as well as an acoustic song. Not afraid to play how we feel.
7. When your band is hanging out together, who cooks, who gets the drinks in, and who is first to crack out the acoustic guitars for a singalong?
Daniel bust out the guitar, both get the drinks in and try to sing along.
8. When was the last time you were starstruck and who was it?
When i seen the warning live for the first time. Favorite new upcoming band.
9. What is the best part of being a musician? If you could no longer be a musician for for whatever reason, what would be your dream job?
An actor.
10. What is one question you have always wanted an interviewer to ask – and what is the answer? Conversely, what question are you tired of answering?
Who is your favorite live band? I would say Sevendust.
11. Looking back over your career, is there a single moment or situation you feel was a misstep or you would like to have a “do over,” even if it didn’t change your current situation?
Yes. Play more shows and connect with more artists.
12. If you could magically go back in time and be a part of the recording sessions for any one record in history, which would you choose – and what does that record mean to you?
Alice in Chains Dirt. One of my favorites.
