When attending one of their shows, be prepared to get engulfed in an immersive and electrifying experience sure to leave a long lasting impression.” We get singer Krysis to discuss new music, influences, and more…

1. Tell us a little about your latest release.  What might a fan or listener not grab the first or second time they listen through?  Are there any hidden nuggets you put in the material or that only diehard fans might find?

“Firefly” isn’t just a release, its the first light leading to our debut album Bad Blood coming out Oct 24 — it’s a signal. Some tracks hide reversed glyphs, altered time signatures, buried whispers. If you listen at 3:03 a.m. with nothing but red light in the room… you might hear what we didn’t say out loud.

2. What got you into music, and can you tell us about the moment you realized you wanted to be a musician?

One of us was sitting in silence too long. Another started screaming into a cracked mic. Another kept hearing songs in their sleep. We didn’t become musicians — we became conduits.  Music was therapy for us all from our very humble beginnings.

3. Building on that, is there a specific song, album, performer, or live show that guided your musical taste?

Operation: Mindcrime for the inspiration.  It redefined how music can transcend the ears and can tell a story by engaging all of your senses simultaneously.

4. If you could call in any one collaborator to do a song with, who would it be, and why?

Trent Reznor. Because he bleeds like we do, and turns sound into scripture.

5. What is your favorite activity when out of the studio and/or not on tour?  What do you like to do to unwind?

We each disappear in our own ways. One paints sigils. One runs into rainstorms. One vanishes into old VHS tapes. But when we do come back together, it’s usually somewhere dark with low frequencies playing.

6. How would you describe your music to someone who’d never listened to you before? What is the one comparison a reviewer or fan has made that made you cringe or you disagreed with?

It’s what you hear when your reflection stops following you. One reviewer said we were like “Slipknot meets Coldplay.” That hurt — mostly for Coldplay.

7. When your band is hanging out together, who cooks, who gets the drinks in, and who is first to crack out the acoustic guitars for a singalong?

Beast is always looking for a new experience.  Krysis always brings the firewater. Onyx always has an acoustic guitar nearby for a sing along and Jaxx brings the comedy show.

8. When was the last time you were starstruck and who was it?

The Prophet said he saw DIO in a dream and couldn’t speak for three days.

9. What is the best part of being a musician? If you could no longer be a musician for whatever reason, what would be your dream job?

Connection. Transmission. Getting letters from fans saying they felt seen. If we couldn’t do this, we’d probably be running some underground radio station or carving the Codex into alley walls.

10. What is one question you have always wanted an interviewer to ask – and what is the answer? Conversely, what question are you tired of answering?

“What does the Order really want?” Not fame. Not noise. We want to wake you up. Question we’re tired of? “Is the blood real?” — Next.

11. Looking back over your career, is there a single moment or situation you feel was a misstep or you would like to have a “do over,” even if it didn’t change your current situation?

Listen, learn and be willing to fail forward. Wisdom is the best teacher and wisdom only comes with time and experience.

12. If you could magically go back in time and be a part of the recording sessions for any one record in history, which would you choose – and what does that record mean to you?

The Wall. Because that much pain pressed to tape leaves a residue. We’d bring our own shadows and see if they’d stick.
