Greta Van Fleet brought their Dreams in Gold Tour to Toledo, Ohio last night with great anticipation from their fans. After several recent Michigan show cancellations, the Huntington Center was buzzing with fans from all over the U.S. to see the quartet perform. They delivered a fantastic performance covering material from their debut “From The Fires” all the way to their most recent release “The Battle At Gardens Gate.”

By the time 9:05pm rolled around and the kabuki curtain adorned with Greta’s golden symbols was about to drop; the mostly female crowd began to chant “Greta…Greta…GRETA!!” Even the weariest of fans who spent over 14 hours waiting for the band in the fall Ohio weather are awakened with the distortion of the guitar for the opening song “Built By Nations.”

The four-piece is awash in red light akin to a lava lamp, and in true Greta fashion are adorned in their full retro clothing. It’s a very immersive experience that feels like you have been transported right back into the 1970’s. Singer Josh Kiszka belts out the 11-song set with an impressive vocal ability. Equally impressive is the sound quality of their performance, which sounds like they’ve clamped on a pair of high-fidelity headphones on the whole arena. The sound mix seems to get even better as the show progresses as Josh belts out the primal intro scream of “Safari Song.” Supported by his brothers Sam and Jake Kiszka and drummer Danny Wager, the band lays down funky percussion wrapped around some finger burning guitar solos. Speaking of solos, Wagner is on duty to deliver a pulse pounding drum solo at the end of “Safari Song.”

There is plenty of fan interaction as well with the entire barricade rail draped in towels with Josh’s face on them as well as signs encouraging some band interaction with the front row. One sign says “Meet for Drinks” and another let’s Josh know that “We Have Fireball” in hopes that he will repeat his whiskey shot drinking antics with them. “Highway Tune” closes out the night and Josh manages to get a pair of sunglasses and a feather boa from the ladies of the rail. Jake Kiszka is on full jam mode when the band then bakes in their own cover of “I Got Mine” by Akron, Ohio’s finest band The Black Keys. Jake then brings his Gibson SG to the center of the stage to show off his behind the head shredding as the band closes out a solid performance.

Greta Van Fleet is on the Dreams in Gold Tour though the middle of December Wrapping up in NJ. Make sure to not miss this incredible show!
