Katy Steele announces the ‘Soul Bride’ teaser tour

After an extensive, sold out, solo tour across Australia in September, road testing new material, Katy Steele, of Little Birdy fame is back and ready to show you what she has been working on with two full band performances across WA.

The Aria nominated artist has been locked away in her home studio over the last couple of months and has decided to do two shows giving her fans a sneak peak at her forthcoming sophomore record “Soul Bride”, due for release late 2019. Katy will also be playing hit songs from her Little Birdy back catalogue as well as tracks from her debut solo record ‘Human’, which was released in 2017.

It’s been a huge few years for the WA native who has recently become a mother and cites this as a huge inspiration for the new recordings

‘Obviously the experience of having a child is unlike anything else I have been through so I can safely say that my heart has never been so full- the songs have taken on a new lease of life and a heart felt genuineness that I think I had lost for a while there. I’ve let go of a lot of baggage which I held internally and learnt to love my art of songwriting again’

Katy and her partner made the decision to do most of the production for the new record “in-house” sighting the fact that it’s easier, more affordable and being able to have more time and control over your art as some of the benefits of home recording. “Everybody’s doing it these days, and I feel it’s more enjoyable and less rushed – you can work at your own pace. I mean, you just have to look at what Kevin Parker has achieved, in terms of DIY, he has put bedroom recording on the map”.

Taking the time to craft the sound that she wanted for this record has been priceless ‘ I feel my songwriting and craft has come a million miles and “Soul Bride” is no exception. It’s by far my my most honest and real work to date. I just can’t wait for people to hear it… exciting times ahead!”

Fans and music lovers alike can expect to hear a more classic, up-beat sounding set as Katy finds inspiration from the likes of Foxygen, Mac Demarco, Jenny Lewis, Carole King and many more…

The first of the shows will take place at The Rosemount Hotel on Saturday August 3rd followed by the second show on Friday August 9th at the River, Margaret River.

Both shows will have Perth natives “Gazey” on-board as main support to get the crowds amped!
