The Miller Lite Carb Concert Series once again nailed it with classic performers Kool and the Gang and headliner Foreigner. The threat of thunderstorms gave way to a warm and dry afternoon. The infield crowd steadily grew as the Freedom 100 race concluded. By Foreigner’s set every inch was filled with fans of all ages. Kool and the Gang got things started. The Grammy award winner’s career now spans over 50 years. They played a collection of all their greatest hits. They ended with “Celebration” which was appropriate for the three-day party of the Indy 500. After a quick set change it was time for Foreigner. The classic rockers career now spans over 40 years, with 10 multi platinum albums, and over 30 top 20 hits. They got things started with “Long, Long Way From Home.” Frontman Kelly Hansen was all energy, and the crowd involved from the onset. They followed with hit after hit. The crowd sang along in support. For “I Want to Know What Love Is” they brought out local Greenfield choir for background support. They concluded the show with “Hot Blooded.” A great performance and setlist made for a memorable evening for classic rock fans.
