Brit Floyd is a band I catch every time I can.  While I didn’t grow up a huge Pink Floyd fan, I have become more aware of their music thanks to this killer group of musicians that tours annually, paying homage to one of their favorite bands.  I was initially captivated by the stage show – especially the light show – but came to realize Damian Darlington and the group he has assembled to play Pink Floyd’s catalog are amazing musicians in their own right.  With the current tour celebrating the 40th Anniversary of The Wall, I was a little more excited than normal, as I know this album having grown up with the film and soundtrack.  From the first notes of “In The Flesh?” the band was on fire and the excitement of the crowd seems to grow from note to note.  The show moved from song to song with precision… the light show was as captivating as ever and the band seemed as tight as they ever have.  The trading of vocals between Darlington and Ian Cattell allowed the songs to resonate and seem authentic, as these guys have perfected the sound and enunciation needed for each of their respective songs.  Toss in some of the best background vocals around from a trio of singers that nailed it, and the vocals for each song played on this current tour takes you back if you settle into your seat, close your eyes, and enjoy.  The guitar work from Damian and Edo Scordo was spot on from riff to riff, solo to solo, and nuance to nuance.  The inner workings of the band and their musicianship are evident as they move through the Pink Floyd catalog.  From children of fans to long-time fans of Pink Floyd, not a band word was uttered about tonight’s performance.  While some had songs or deep cuts they would love to hear (seems to be a running theme at ANY show), tonight was chock full of tracks from The Wall and everybody in the house rejoiced as song after song made its way out of the sound system and washed across the audience.  You have plenty of time to get out and see these guys, as their current tour in North America runs through August 5.
