Palace Of The King open album #3 with a track worthy of Guns n’ Roses – the mighty I Am The Storm. Laden with epic aspirations, LA Woman keys and a searing lead guitar, this is the stuff legends are made of – evidence of how battle-hardened and sharp they are after six years in the rock n’ roll trenches.

It also highlights how farcical the Australian music industry is, when a band this dynamic and vital and brilliant are ignored for big bill evets in favour of faded, tired one-hit-wonder revivals featuring half of their original line-ups.

Palace Of The King are the real deal: they deserve their place on national festivals, or supporting the biggest international touring acts – preferably before there’s no-one left to fill a stadium, and our younger bands are doomed to a lifetime of local pub gigs, the end.

It’s Been A Long Time Coming flexes AC/DC-like muscle, Tim Henwood’s vocal cords contorting brilliantly and the riffs and melodies drawing the listener in immediately.

There’s a funky groove and a slinky riff to Sold Me Down The River, its primal drums guaranteeing some dodgy dance floor contortions, and Fly Like An Evil soars triumphantly, led by dynamic drumming and vocals.

Every track on Get Right With Your Maker pulsates with puffed chest confidence and conviction, right through final number Back On My Feet Again and the inexplicably uncredited ‘hidden’ acoustic title track at the end which is absolutely worth sticking around for.
