Dreadnaught formed in Melbourne in 1995, and this fifth album is their first release this decade – and captures the five-some hungry and angry and in suitably aggressive form.

Heavy as fuck and twice as pissed off, the band have an ‘90s indies metal edge to their sound – a loud-quiet-loud (but mostly loud) textural subtlety that ensures The Hated, Welcome To Oblivion have enough light and shade to accentuate their intensity. Set Fire To The Plan especially starts like a near-acoustic grunge rocker, before building to a smouldering climax. Aim To Destroy is a far more aggressive metal tune that again has one foot in the ‘90s,

Clenched Fist seethes with Pantera intensity, and Dreadnaught bring the album to a close with the seven-minutes-forty Warning Signs, singer Greg Trull showing what a great singing voice he has in the first three atmosphere building minutes of the track, before the intensity and volume rises to a crescendo.
