Elise Strachan and a friend started a cupcake business in Sydney in 2008, a la TV’s 2 Broke Girls – but like those fictional characters, the business was a commercial flop.

It set Strachan on the road to cupcake obsession, though, and when she posted a YouTube tutorial in 2011, she had no idea she was embarking on a whole new direction in life. Now with a global online following and tens of millions of YouTube views, she has finally compiled her first collection of My Cupcake Addiction recipes.

Strachan doesn’t limit herself just to cupcakes, though. Far from it!

 

There’s cakes, cookie bunting flags (yes, really), chocolate ice cream bowls, milkshakes and soda floats, mug cakes, chilli hot chocolate, cake pops, chocolate dipped strawberries and a myriad of cakes that look like balloons, eggs, hot dogs, chicken drumsticks, zombie brains, spiders, tree stumps and more.

Strachan’s greatest assets are obvious: a keen creative mind, a wonderfully visual eye, and a knack for explaining the steps required to make her amazing creations simply and effectively.
