NEWS: Bell X1 Announce US Tour, ARMS Debuts In #2 Spot Behind Kings Of Leon
NEW YORK, NY (November 15, 2016) – Irish band, Bell X1, undoubtedly one of Ireland’s most beloved bands will embark on a U.S. tour next year playing select dates across the country beginning February 22, 2017 at The Sinclair in Boston; they will also be playing New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco. The trio will round out their live show with their touring band which includes Rory Doyle on drums and Glenn Keating on keyboards.
Bell X1 recently released their seventh studio album, ARMS, on October 14, 2016. It entered the Ireland Albums Top 100 chart at #2 just behind Kings Of Leon and was the “Album of the Week” on RTÉ Radio 1. The Irish Times, in their 4-star review say the album is, “…another marvellous piece of work from a band that continues to gently, respectfully startle.” Hot Press boasts “As anybody who witnessed their rapturously received set on the main stage at this year’s Electric Picnic can attest, Bell X1 are indisputably one of Ireland’s greatest bands…Arms is the sound of master craftsmen at work…This is a great record.”
ARMS, a nine-song collection that ABC News declares their “strongest album in a decade,” is the follow up to their 2013 critically acclaimed album Chop Chop, which became the trio’s third #1 album on the Ireland Albums Top 100 chart and their fourth consecutive album to be nominated for a Choice Music Prize for “Irish Album of the Year.” Stand out tracks include “The Upswing” which Hozier called out on Twitter for its“…New beautiful greatness…” – see the video HERE, “Out of Love,” which Irish blog Nialler9 calls “superb” and an “absolute jam” – watch the “colorful” video HERE and “Fake Memory” which The Last Mixed Tape states, “…delves deep into the group textural indie-rock sound.” Paste Magazine says, “Songs such as ‘Bring Me A Fireking,’ ‘I Go Where You Go,’ ‘Take Your Sweet Time’ and ‘Sons and Daughters’ have an understated yet endearing quality, leaving, in their wakes, an affecting afterglow…percolating tempos and buoyant choruses…” Magnet Magazine states, “…the songs sound fresh and spontaneous, full of a delicate passion. Noonan’s warm tenor has the burnished quality of the summer sun.”
ARMS was produced by the band and recorded by Tommy McLoughlin (from the Villagers), David Geraghty, Glenn Keating (The National, Jónsi) & Ross Dowling at Attica Audio, The Numbers Station & The BallOfSound. It was mixed by Peter Katis at Tarquin Studios, except “Out of Love” which was mixed by Ross Dowling.
Bell X1 will be on tour throughout Ireland, The UK and Australia for the rest of the year with more dates to be announced. This year, they played to over 50,000 people on the mains stage at Electric Picnic, they’ve headlined sold out shows at Dublin’s Iveagh Gardens and Galway Arts Festival and had top billing at the 2016 Indiependence Festival in Cork. In 2015, Bell X1 played a fully sold out acoustic tour and supported Ed Sheeran for two big shows at Croke Park, one of the largest stadiums in Europe.
