Spiders is a cool rock-punk band that seemingly delivers with every release.  Their latest three-track EP is another great delivery.  Opener and title track “Why Don’t You” is a cool rocker full of attitude and riffs that comes at you from the first note and keeps the rock quotient intact until the final note is played.  The guitar work from John Hoyles features cools riffs and solos throughout the track.  “Watch Out” is an interesting track, in that I would never have known this was an ABBA cover, had the press release skipped that point.  The guitars are great on this track, but the heavy handed rhythm section really shines on this track, when Olle Griphammar and Richard Harryson on bass and drums respectively anchor the track.  “In A Room” closes out this short collection, but not before vocalist Ann-Sofie Hoyles shows off her strength as a singer who can deliver a song with emotion and attitude, just as she has done one all three tracks on this collection.  This short opus is a great introduction to Spiders if you aren’t familiar with them and a nice refresher if you are and have been awaiting new material!
