The Wombats, and indie rock band from Liverpool, brough their Oh! The Ocean Tour to Charlotte on Wednesday night. It’s hard to believe it was all the way back in 2003 when as teenagers they formed the band. Now six studio albums later they continue to light up the alternative charts. The current album is no exception. Singles include the catchy tongue in cheek “Sorry I’m Late I Didn’t Want to Come” and “I Love America and She Hates Me.” An energetic crowd welcomed the trio to another cold Charlotte night after the weekends record snowfall. They opened with “Moving to New York” as the crowd erupted. Band members, Matthew Murphy on guitar and vocals, Tord Øverland Knudsen on bass and Dan Haggis on drums, gave it their all and engaged with the crowd throughout the night. Tord was a whirling dynamo, jumping around the stage as he jammed on the base. Murph interacted with the crowd throughout the show and made it seem like a personal experience. Everyone had a great time, and it was worth trudging out in the cold on a Wednesday night!
