Sideburn - Electrify cover

Hailing from Savigny in Western Switzerland, Sideburn variously evoke to spirit of fellow Swiss rockers Krokus, AC/DC, Airbourne, the Cult, Rose Tattoo and Judas Priest on this high octane slab of riff n’ roll from 2013.

If that sounds like a heady mashup of influences – well, it is! And the five-some have the chops to make it work, never over-playing, just delivering rock solid tunes with equal parts heft, groove and melody that should perfectly soundtrack your next cross-country road race (or any other fine occasion)

Roland Pierrehumbert leads the charge, his barbed wire vocals providing centrepoint for the band to dance around. Laurence Lina and Mike Riffart (what a totally apt name!)’s guitar interplay is classically AC/DC influences, and Aussie Nick Thornton on bass nails the rhythm section with drummer Lionel Blanc, both providing pinpoint precision.

It’s easy to see why Sideburn have been appearing on more and more big stages over the past year or two, and a great follow-up could push them up to the next level.

The CD version of Electrify is value-added with two live tracks and Rockstar, a song written specifically for the 2012 Adidas Rockstar event that the band headlined in Stuttgart, Germany, making this a strong addition to any hard rocking music collection.
