The cover of Space Lizard’s debut album B17 tells you most of what you need to know: On the front, a bright green bomber flies through a darkly psychedelic and nightmarish sky of chomping jaws, great pointy teeth and probing reptilian tongues; while on the back The Lizard lads themselves (Henri Lehto, Tapio Pesälä, Matti Pitkänen and Antti Selamaa) look exactly like the kind of sweaty, hairy drug pigs that your Mama warned you about.
Over six tracks Space Lizard deliver a pysch-stoner metal groove astrally projected in from the nearest brown acid trip, with the likes of Who Stole The Danger From Rock’n’ Roll?, Liquid Wolf, Hammer Of Negativity and Bad Trip Boogie providing the perfect soundtrack to the end of days.
Space Lizard put the doom-laden danger BACK into heavy rock n’ roll: just don’t invite them round to meet Mum, or you might not have a house left to wake up to.
