Knoxville native Everley performed their farewell concert to sizeable crowd at the Concourse on Saturday night. It was a bittersweet ending for the local favorites. In June they released their studio album The Tyger and the Lamb a more polished follow-up to their EP Behaviorism. Self described as alt/post-hardcore their music displayed elements of each, with soft melody combined with guttural vocals. Everley had success touring to promote their new release but did not gain enough momentum to take the next step. Guitarist Steven Conrad said members favored a conservative approach and decided to retire the band rather that going all in. Their show was full of energy and wildly received by the fans. Lead singer Tyler Dishman was in full force jumping out into the crowd and handing the mic to eager singers that didn’t miss a beat. The vocals were supported with powerful guitar chords and pounding drums. After completing their set, the band returned for a final encore. Always entertaining, Everley will be missed. Their music can be found on iTunes and at http://everley.bandcamp.com.
