How do you cover a classic and get away with it? Just ask newcomer Sarah Ross, as she has updated AND nailed “You’re No Good,” made famous to rockers world wide when Linda Ronstadt released her scorching version in 1975. The young Ross, a Season 12 contestant on American Idol, recently released her rock/rap/country version of the track on December 9th. This track, and Sarah’s vocals have attitude and swagger, from the slide guitar to the heavy rhythm section that anchors the track to the soaring vocals during the choruses. Her vocals and delivery are spot on, from her sultry growls to the higher mellow notes to the fun rap after the first chorus. If this track is any indication, her debut EP, to be released in early 2015, should be full of tracks to please everybody from country fans to rockers alike. Look out Colt, there’s a new country/rock rapper out there and she is gunning for ya!!!
