If there was any doubt that Melbourne’s DESTROY SHE SAID are the spiritual descendants on the mighty Bon Scott after their excellent 2012 debut album, then latest release Fat Lizzy should immediately dispel them.

A modern day Whole Lotta Rosie, Fat Lizzy is as catchy as crabs, poundingly heavy, and absolutely essential to notch on your belt.

It may have been written to emulate a Thin Lizzy-esque sound, but the band have delivered a souped-up beast that nods as much to AC/DC as Lizzy, with a touch of the power & force of Motorhead in there for good measure.

Simon McCullough’s vocals have some of the cheekiness of Scott’s, and as he rasps through the lyric concerning a hefty lady with an appetite for lovin’ who needs to be rolled in flour to find the wet spot, it’s nigh on impossible not to sing along and laugh – so beware if you’re listening on headphones on public transport!

DSS are reknowned for value-adding their releases too, so Fat Lizzy gets the full treatment, with a further three live tracks (Hookers Don’t Kiss, Drivin’ Machine and No Church) that capture the band in their customary electric form.

There’s also a very limited edition Knickerbox option, which loads the EP up with a poster and postcard of the ever-so-tasteful artwork featuring Lizzy herself (by Marc Welsh), some photos of the band, and even a baggie of flour in case you find your very own Lizzy! It’s another legendary effort from a band who do nothing by half measure.
