I received this EP and thought “Why not?” I mean, it takes me longer to drive to work than it does these four songs that clock in under eleven total minutes listening time. “It’s Mania” opens the disc with an erratic rhythm that fits the track and actually made me think back to The Wildhearts “Splattermania” during the chorus. The vocals and guitars are well matched and come together nicely. Title track “Aberdeen” has a Smashing Pumpkin feel to it, most likely due to the vocals and fuzzy guitar. It fits the disc, but isn’t really up my alley. “The Parent Thing” comes along and has a sing-songy chorus that helps tie the other song styles on this disc together. This is my favorite on the EP, as it features great vocals and a guitar in the background that helps carry the track without screaming through with a solo. “Walk Away” closes this short disc with a retro sound that adds to the overall quality of the tracks on this disc. If you are looking to pop something on for a short listen, this is a great option – I might have to see what The Perms offer for a longer car ride.
