The Wild Feathers Confirm Outside Lands, Debut Album Out 8/13
The Wild Feathers are continuing their touring streak through the summer: they have just been confirmed to play San Francisco’s Outside Lands festival August 11th and Nashville’s Live on the Green September 12th. These additions come on the heels of a tour with Ryan Bingham, dates with Bob Dylan and stops at the Sasquatch and Hangout Festivals, as well as Milwaukee’s Summerfest and Louisville’s Forecastle Festival. In August the Nashville five-piece will be joining the legendary Willie Nelson for a string of west coast dates, followed by a nationwide run supporting ZZ Ward. Full tour dates are below.
This heavy roadwork is in support of the band’s Jay Joyce (Cage the Elephant, Emmylou Harris)-produced self-titled debut album, now out August 13th on Warner Bros Records. First single “The Ceiling” is heading toward the Top 15 at AAA radio, with a strong story building across the country. Watch the video for the “The Ceiling” here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tPkGcKckjao&feature=player_embedded. Their music has been gaining critical attention, as well; Filter described The Wild Feathers as “full of powerful harmonies, country twang, breezy melodies and lots of guitar,” Magnet declared “this group has got the goods,” and American Songwriter said “The Wild Feathers may seem like newcomers, but they’re catching up fast.”
During their months on the road, the band has been pulling over at truck stops across the country, playing and shooting some of the songs that have influenced them most. The resulting Truck Stop Covers, which include Levon Helm’s “Got Me A Woman” and The Allman Brothers’ “Ramblin Man” are on www.thewildfeathers.com. A new cover will be posted each week.
The Wild Feathers are a truly American band: their music takes elements of the best of rock, country, folk and blues music and reshapes it in a way that is both unique and modern. Ricky Young, Joel King, Taylor Burns, Preston Wimberly and Ben Dumas grew up steeped in music; playing solo gigs, touring with local bands and working at venues. The guys came together in Austin in 2010 through coincidence, mutual friends, and a shared love of the classics: Petty, Cash, The Band, Graham Parsons and Neil Young. Look for them in a town near you.
