The third annual Monster Energy’s Welcome To Rockville drew over 25,000 people for the two-day destination music festival held April 27 and 28, 2013 at Jacksonville, Florida’s scenic Metropolitan Park, along the beautiful St. Johns River.

The region’s biggest rock event featured performances from Alice In Chains and Limp Bizkit (marking the band’s first hometown show in over a decade), as well as Jacksonville legends Lynyrd Skynyrd and Shinedown, and many more.

The festival received positive feedback from the media. Here are examples:

“An estimated 25,000 attended the two-day concert that featured approximately 30 bands on four stages. The mixture of sounds from hometown bands Limp Bizkit, Shinedown, and Lynyrd Skynyrd, as well as others like Alice In Chains, Skillet and Three Days Grace, drew crowds diverse in age and styles.” – Charles Broward, Florida Times-Union, April 29, 2013

“The crowd was…loving every minute of it…many rock fans took breaks from the sun, sitting under the trees or enjoying the breeze off the river.” – Amanda Long, Folio Weekly, April 30, 2013

In an effort to support and remain consistent with Mayor Brown’s priority to revitalize downtown Jacksonville, Monster Energy’s Welcome To Rockville was expanded this year to include “Corona Light presents the Rockville Downtown Experience”–a free Friday, April 26 pre-party and two free after-parties on Saturday, April 27.

“We’re continuing to build Welcome To Rockville as a destination festival by bringing top national rock bands to Jacksonville–which will also help revitalize downtown and grow the city’s local economy and tourism industry. We’re excited to show the rest of the country all that Jacksonville has to offer,” says Welcome To Rockville producer and Jacksonville native Danny Wimmer. “We were happy to learn that downtown hotels were sold out during the festival weekend and business was dramatically increased in the area.”

Monster Energy’s Welcome To Rockville is produced by Jacksonville native Danny Wimmer (one of the partners in the massively successful Rock On The Range and Carolina Rebellion festivals) of Danny Wimmer Presents. The festival is fueled by Monster Energy. Additional sponsors for the 2013 event include F.Y.E.Metro PCS, Beacon Audio and Revolver Magazine.

Metropolitan Park offers a scenic, spacious site for Monster Energy’s Welcome To Rockville that’s just a few hours drive from cities including Orlando, Tampa, Gainesville, Savannah and Tallahassee, and is easily accessible by plane from around the country. Metropolitan Park is a premier 27-acre recreational facility along the beautiful St. Johns River in downtown Jacksonville, Florida at 1410 Gator Bowl Blvd.
