Mexican Dubwiser Cumbia/Rock/Reggae/Funk/Dubstep CD Revolution Radio (Koolarrow Records) Out May 14 and Record Release Party at LA’s Viper Room May 10

Los Angeles, CA: Mexican Dubwiser (aka Marcelo Tijerina) has been DJing for over ten years, both as a DJ and band leader, playing songs from his upcoming Revolution Radio album, out May 14 on Koolarrow Records. This week, Mexican Dubwiser’s Revolution Radio made the Top 5 Most Added on CMJ’s New World Music Chart.

His signature sound is a unique fusion between a broad range of influences, from old and new artists; from Die Antwoord to Celso Piña; from Los Angeles Azules to Bob Marley. Considered as part of a burgeoning Latin music scene of modern/traditional contemporaries  (ala Mexican Institute of Sound, Sr. Coconut, and Columbia’s Frente Cumbiero), Marcelo liberally includes elements of different styles of music like Dubstep, Cumbia, Reggae, Hip Hop while throwing down some heavy Bass lines. “Doing this is very exciting, to be able to play music for crowds that are not familiar with some of the traditional influences, and combining different styles of music makes it more fun,” Marcelo explains. “As people are finally starting to catch up on to it, we expect to grow and continue making music. This mini tour coming up should make very interesting to catch up with new crowds and old ones, as we continue doing what we love. I always enjoy performing as a DJ, but love collaborating with other musicians on stage even more. We reflect that on the album too, with collaborations in every track on the record. Hopefully we can turn some new people on to something fresh and exciting with this release this year. We want to show people that the future of Latin music is bright and Mexican Dubwiser is somehow part of that.”
