Alice Russell leaves America To Dust
Alice Russell has just wrapped up her US album release tour, the May tour was her first solo visit to the States in 3 years, in support of ‘To Dust’ -her first album in 5 years.
With 7 shows, 5 radio performances, a national TV spot and 2 instores all in 11 days, Alice certainly left America “to dust”. Alice kicked off her US tour with a performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, followed by a session on KCRW’s ‘Morning Becomes Eclectic’ , Seattle’s KEXP, a visit to NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert, a special Free At Noon Concert for Philly’s XPN and to finish up her tour, she dropped into WNYC’s Soundcheck for a live session where she performed a “pure and fierce” cover of James Blake’s “Retrograde”.
Alice blazed through America with her new tunes and 4-piece band, she surprised audiences in LA with a special performance at Bonobo’s LA show, she hung with ?uestlove in New York and had David Byrne attend her Le Poisson Rouge performance.
Alice Russell’s conquest of America not only wowed but prompted critics to issue hefty cautions -“Adele, watch your back” Rolling Stone, “Where has she been hiding? She’s amazing!” XPN, “Alice did no less than take the house down” Giant Step, “Alice Russell is a true soul diva …You do wonder how long it will be before the rest of the world catches on…..” Pop Matters.
