Updated for the first time since 2012, The Lego Book has been re-released to coincide with the sixtieth birthday of Lego itself, and the fortieth birthday of the much-loved Lego mini-figures.

Containing a wealth of fascinating information The Lego Book takes us on a time travelling journey back to before Lego existed, when a Dane by the name of Ole Kirk Kristiansen started his own business making the finest wooden toys. This was 1932, and it would not be until 1949 when the forerunners to the global phenomenon Lego bricks were first produced. The Lego Book allows us to follow the timeline which led to that revolutionary design, and how it carried forward to seeing the Lego brick that we know and love today finally patented in 1958.

Lego has remained in the family for four generations, with Thomas Kirk Kristiansen – Ole’s great-grandson – now the company owner.

As well as a comprehensive timeline of Lego developments, The Lego Book features many of the favourite collections from the past sixty years, from simple vehicles and houses, through space craft, technical sets, and cross-branded delights such as Lego Batman, Star Wars, Harry Potter and so on. The book shows how the famous Lego logo evolved, the creation of Lego World sites around the world, and how it has more recently even branched into movie making.

Just like Lego itself, The Lego Book is a guaranteed way to stimulate the mind and occupy the attention for hours on end, and a must have for the millions and millions who have grown up creating fantasy worlds with these deceptively simple little plastic bricks.
