On October 16th, Hornblow / Megaforce releases the motion picture soundtrack to “That’s What She Said”, featuring new songs by Mike Viola and Tim Adams, with vocals and collaborations with Inara George, Rachael Yamagata, Sarah Cronin, Jess Furman, Tracy Bonham, Nicole Atkins, Wendy Wang and Kelly Jones.

Tim Adams And Mike Viola’s Harem: Songs From The Movie “That’s What She Said” is a digital only release.

“That’s What She Said,” in theaters Oct 19th and screened to rave reviews at Sundance, was written by Kellie Overbey and directed by Carrie Preston, star of HBO’s “True Blood” and CBS’s “The Good Wife”. A quirky, down and dirty, glimpse into the comical realities of modern womanhood, the film stars Alia Shawkat, Marcia DeBonis and Anne Heche.

The sessions originally came together as a collaboration between Preston and songwriters Tim Adams and Mike Viola.  As Adams says, “Preston’s enthusiasm and support for the tunes, and for the vocalists we brought into the fold, was crucial.” Tim adds, “the three of us sat down at the end of every session to listen to the day’s work, and Carrie really provided the direction for the songs, and the women whose story that the film was telling.  And what women!  This movie is hysterical, profane and insane — every track came back down to capturing that manic energy and translating it to song – us and the women charged with singing / screaming / howling / rocking their way through each of the tunes.”

Mike Viola and Tim Adams are longtime songwriting collaborators, spending years making music together in NYC. Viola says, “[Tim and I] tapped into the pulse of New York, and put music to it… fast and dirty.  It was easy to pick the girls to sing lead vocals and co-write the songs with us,” adding, ”we just aimed high and they said ‘yes’ based on Carrie and Kellie’s cool factor alone. I couldn’t have imagined it done any other way.”

“That’s What She Said” director Carrie Preston feels that Viola and Adams totally understood what she was going for with TWSS, offering, “they created a kick-ass, song-based soundtrack that perfectly captures the erratic journey and the singular voices of our three heroines. Their music is the heart-beat that propels these chicks forward, as they battle one hysterically challenging day in New York City”
