Conor Maynard Storms Top 40 Radio

| 14 September 2012 | Reply

September 13, 2012 — New York, NY — Just a few weeks after being introduced at U.S. radio, “Vegas Girl,” the debut single from 19-year-old British singer-songwriter Conor Maynard, is blowing up at Top 40 radio having been put in on-air rotation at over 100 stations across the country including New York’s influential hit-maker Z100. “With so many artists breaking out of the UK right now, the timing is perfect for a male singer like Conor.  His smart, fun and energetic personality shines through in his music” states Sharon Dastur, PD at Z100 NYC.  The video for “Vegas Girl” is also airing on MTV, MTV Hits, MTV TR3S, Fuse, Music Choice, and Teen Nick, and has racked up more than seven million views on YouTube since it was posted in late June. Watch it here.

Written and produced by Conor and UK production team the Invisible Men (Jessie J, DJ Fresh), “Vegas Girl” is the first track to be released in the U.S. from Conor’s upcoming debut album, Contrast, due from Capitol Records on January 8, 2013. Rather than re-tread the euro-dance route, Contrast is a genre-defying blend of innovative R&B, dramatic hip-hop soundscapes, and stadium-scaling pop anthems that manage to be both credibly cool and commercially appealing.

Having already created buzz and a debut #1 album in his native Britain with his super-sharp, futuristic-sounding urban-pop, Conor was invited to perform at this year’s iTunes Festival, where he is keeping company with such music heavyweights as Jack White, Usher, One Direction, Mumford & Sons, Pink, The Killers, Muse, Ellie Goulding, and David Guetta among others.

Over the past few months, Conor has been in the studio working on Contrast with Ne-Yo (who appears in Conor’s “Turn Around” video), Stargate (Katy Perry, Rihanna), Midi Mafia (50 Cent, Frank Ocean), Kevin Rudolf (Jay Sean, Lil’ Wayne), Sandy Vee (Rihanna, Pitbull), Crada (Drake, Kid Cudi), songwriter Diane Warren, the Invisible Men (who also produced Conor’s debut UK single, “Can’t Say No,” which debuted at No. 2 on the UK singles chart), and Pharrell Williams. After working with Conor at his Miami studio, Williams predicted: “He will change the future of pop music.”

In preparation for the holiday season, Conor is asking his American fans (who refer to themselves as “Mayniacs”) to choose which cities he visits on his upcoming December U.S. tour via the Mayniac Map. The shows are free and fans can sign up through their social media to request a tour stop at The top five cities whose residents have done the most Tweeting, sharing, and like-ing about Conor and the map will be rewarded with a show. Watch Conor explaining the #MayniacMap here.
