A Dirty Dozen with REPTILLIAN DELUXE and LORD GARTALLAX from FULLMINATOR – March 2026
According to a recent press release: “Intergalactic thrashers by way of Puerto Rico, FULLMINATOR have proudly unleashed their music video for “2099 Ninjas,” taken from their recently released album Destroy Tokyo, out now. In this new chapter of the FULLMINATOR mythos, your favorite Intergalactic Junkies face off against legions of deadly ninjas commanded by the sinister Omega Technologies megacorp. Led by billionaire genius Yoko Mohoyo, this faction is determined to steal the all-powerful Omni-Piece from FULLMINATOR and trigger a dimensional merge that would bring the world of hentai into ours. FULLMINATOR is a crossover thrash metal band from the future, based in San Juan, Puerto Rico, formed by four genetically engineered humanoid roaches and a shape-shifting reptilian. Formed in 2016, FULLMINATOR assaults human ears with influences from GWAR, Municipal Waste, Anthrax, Gama Bomb, Overkill, and other thrash greats, supercharged by a shock-rock live show featuring lasers, beer spills, and giant robot battles in the pit.” We get singer Reptilian Deluxe and drummer Lord Gartallax to discuss new music, influences, and more…
1. Tell us a little about your latest release. What might a fan or listener not grab the first or second time they listen through? Are there any hidden nuggets you put in the material or that only diehard fans might find?
Reptilian Deluxe: Well, Destroy Tokyo is our second album where we’re retelling a highly embellished escapade throughout the time-space nexus. This time we’re telling the story of our adventure in the future city on Neo-Tokyo, where we fought off *nearly* 3,000 ninjas and the infamous Omega Typhoon. We had a lighthearted Guns n’ Roses diss, and we called Drake a predator in “2099 Ninjas.”
Lord Gartallax: Yeah, we stopped the CEO of Omega Corp, Yoko Mohoyo, from merging our dimension with the anime universe. There’s also some movie references, and a bunch of lore. If you listen to the album while reading the comic book you might get some of that. We also shouted out our favorite Monster Truck.
2. What got you into music, and can you tell us about the moment you realized you wanted to be a musician?
Lord Gartallax: Well as soon as we arrived on Earth and realized how easy it is to just play a couple chords and smoke weed, we were in. Best job I ever had, after burning entire planets down to the core, of course.
Reptilian Deluxe: I had this comrade in Reptilia when I was just growing out of my fetal stage, they showed me Metallica concerts and the Tenacious D movie, it was all insane to me how you apes had mastered expression. That was like the first spark, then I listened to Gustavo Cerati (an Argentine pop singer) and that basically sealed the deal. Who would have thought?
3. Building on that, is there a specific song, album, performer, or live show that guided your musical taste?
Reptilian Deluxe: Yes, I could name a few, Metallica S&M, Soda Stereo’s MTV Unplugged, The Big 4 playing “AM I EVIL?” together, and last but not least, Mastodon Live at the Aragon. I also saw Juanes and a few Latin American artists in my formative years as a young lizard.
Lord Gartallax: Well having our home base at the island of Puerto Rico, it’s pretty much inevitable to have had a couple of hard encounters with Daddy Yankee and Ricky Martin. Also GWAR caught our attention as soon as we arrived.
4. If you could call in any one collaborator to do a song with, who would it be, and why?
Lord Gartallax: I would love to bring a live and healthy Tyranosaurus Rex back from the dead to do a couple gang vocals.
Reptilian Deluxe: Personally, I’d like to collab with KNEECAP. I can see the crossover thrash mixing with their more aggressive electronic stuff, and we’d get totally wasted in the meantime, talking shit about bourgeois governments.
5. What is your favorite activity when out of the studio and/or not on tour? What do you like to do to unwind?
Reptilian Deluxe: Lord Gatallax and I have taken a liking to miniature wargames, specifically Warhammer 40,000. I’m more into the playing than the painting but the painting can be quite relaxing and satisfying.
Lord Gartallax: Ah yes, If I had a wife she would have divorced me by now for sure. This Warhammer thing is ridiculously expensive and time consuming. But hey, it’s better than doing crack, right?
6. How would you describe your music to someone who’d never listened to you before? What is the one comparison a reviewer or fan has made that made you cringe or you disagreed with?
Lord Gartallax: Hmm, I would say, imagine that GWAR and Municipal Waste had a child but it came out with mental disabilities and no money at all. We often get compared with Slipknot just for having masks and we don’t enjoy that one.
Reptilian Deluxe: I’d describe Fullminator as a crazy fun metal band trying their best to branch out of the strict Metal code, I think you can probably hear it in how we can have some heavy riffage but most of our stuff is in happy, ecstatic sounding scales.
7. When your band is hanging out together, who cooks, who gets the drinks in, and who is first to crack out the acoustic guitars for a singalong?
Reptilian Deluxe: We only hangout to discuss our plans for the downfall of the human bourgeoisie, to implant ourselves into your ruling class and to turn you apes into our cattle. But we get too drunk to be able to do that so then we just talk about boobs.
Lord Gartallax: I can confirm this is correct and have no further comment.
8. When was the last time you were starstruck and who was it?
Reptilian Deluxe: This one is painful to recall, I saw Ron Perlman walking towards me on the street, I loudly said: “What the fuck” and he fist bumped me and kept walking but I just stood there, unable to do anything else. It was kind of embarrassing, to be frank.
Lord Gartallax: Last year we met Sawborg Destructo and Grodius Maximus from GWAR and it was pretty cool.
9. What is the best part of being a musician? If you could no longer be a musician for whatever reason, what would be your dream job?
Reptilian Deluxe: I love being broke, keeps me humble. But traveling has to be my favorite part. I never travelled much until we started touring.
Lord Gartallax: Best part of being a musician? I think it would have to be the part when we spend thousands of dollars and nothing happens for years and years. I would certainly go back to conquering planets if we didn’t have the entire Galaxy looking for us.
10. What is one question you have always wanted an interviewer to ask – and what is the answer? Conversely, what question are you tired of answering?
Reptilian Deluxe: I’d like to be asked how my day has been, and the answer would be that it was fine. No, but seriously, interviews are mostly fine. We’re happy to have a conversation.
Lord Gartallax: Yeah something like that would be nice for a change. Just please stop asking how the band got together or what the name means.
Reptilian Deluxe: Yeah, those kinds of questions are just kinda basic, but I understand why interviewers would ask them.
11. Looking back over your career, is there a single moment or situation you feel was a misstep or you would like to have a “do over,” even if it didn’t change your current situation?
Reptilian Deluxe: I would like to formally request a do over of the years following hurricane María, Puerto Rico got hit really hard. It basically ground all of our progress to a halt. It wasn’t until about 3 years later that we started doing shows consistently for about a year. Then the COVID pandemic happened and you know the rest of the story. That’s around 5 years where we lost all our momentum.
Lord Gartallax: It is physically impossible for us to make errors or mistakes. Everything we’ve done till now is part of the grand plan.
12. If you could magically go back in time and be a part of the recording sessions for any one record in history, which would you choose – and what does that record mean to you?
Lord Gartallax: I would love to go back to the 80’s and release a Fullminator album to see what would have happened. But hey to be there for Reign In Blood, now that would be awesome.
Reptilian Deluxe: I second Gartallax’s answer, dropping an album in the 80’s would have been very interesting. But as for a record in history? I would have loved to do some backing vocals in Pink Floyd’s Animals, any Pink Floyd album really. And as a side note, I would have loved to be there in the studio as Wu Tang Clan records 36 Chambers, I wouldn’t even want to record, I’d just wanna be there and watch them record!
