It hasn’t been long since The Devil Wears Prada graced Winnipeg—just last year, on February 3rd, 2024, they came through with their Dropouts Tour. While it wasn’t the kickoff of the tour, Winnipeg proudly claimed the first sold-out show of that run. And tonight, history repeated itself. Another packed crowd filled The Park Theatre for an unforgettable night of metalcore mayhem. This time, TDWP brought along a stellar supporting lineup: Acres, Kingdom of Giants, and ERRA. Opening the night was Acres, a British post-hardcore/metalcore band who wasted no time firing up the crowd. Their set was a powerful blend of visceral screams, atmospheric guitar layers, and a rhythm section that hit like a freight train. It was a stunning warm-up and a strong sign of what was to come. Next up was Kingdom of Giants, hailing from Northern California. Their brand of melodic metalcore hit hard, combining soaring clean vocals with crushing aggressive screams. Add in hard-hitting riffs, infectious energy, and bone-rattling breakdowns, and their performance became a total sonic assault—in the best way. Their dynamic stage presence kept the crowd hooked and the momentum surging forward. Then came ERRA, the progressive metalcore powerhouse from Birmingham, Alabama. With their intricate guitar work, ambient textures, thunderous drums, and soaring vocals, their set felt like a perfectly balanced storm—intense and mesmerizing. It was the ideal segue to the band everyone was here for.

The Devil Wears Prada—the metalcore mainstays from Dayton, Ohio—took the stage and delivered exactly what fans have come to expect: a masterclass in live performance. They opened their set with “Mammoth” from Dead Throne (2011), a track that flawlessly set the tone with its mix of heaviness and melody. What followed was a well-crafted journey through their discography. While their 2022 release Color Decay took center stage with tracks like “Broken,” “Salt,” “Watchtower,” “Sacrifice,” and “Noise,” longtime fans were thrilled by deep cuts and classics alike. Songs from the Zombie EP and With Roots Above and Branches Below — including “Danger: Wildman,” “Dez Moines,” and “Escape”—had the room erupting. A major highlight was hearing their brand-new single “For You,” released just two days before the show. It’s a promising glimpse of what’s to come on their next album set for release later this year. TDWP’s stage setup was a show in itself, with incredible lighting and a glowing LED outline of their iconic upside-down triangle centerpiece. The lighting changed with the mood of each song, adding depth and drama to an already high-octane performance. Whether you’re a longtime fan or new to their sound, the Metalcore Spring Break Tour is an absolute must-see. It’s a perfectly curated blend of modern melodic metalcore and nostalgic heaviness, made even better by a stellar supporting lineup. Check the tour dates—you’ll thank yourself for going.
