Rock N Roll up-n-comers Plush are out on their first headlining tours and they brought their music, energy, and youthful approach to their craft to The Machine Shop in Flint, MI and I was lucky enough to stop by and experience some of the evenings fun. Hanging out preshow, I can tell you this foursome is excited to be out on the road and delivering their music night after night. After an opening set from March Skies and a killer rock and roll presentation from The Bites (do yourself a HUGE favor and check them out if you get the chance), the stage was set both literally and figuratively for Plush to take their positions and rock out with a SOLD OUT crowd. Kicking off with “Athena,” the headlining set was put into motion. Lead singer / guitarist Moriah Formica took charge and controlled the flow of the show from center stage. Swirling songs from their self-titled debut release and their 2024 EP Find The Beautiful, the ladies of Plush rocked the packed crowd from open to close. Lead guitarist Bella Perron nailed solo after solo and filled the evening with some cool riffs. The set alternated between older and newer, including a killer cover of Heart’s “Barracuda.” The set was perfectly anchored by the rhythm section tandem of bassist Ashley Suppa and drummer Faith Powell. The grouping of songs like “Run,” “Sober,” and “Kill the Noise” added punch to the set early. Other songs dotted the evenings musical landscape with banter from Formica plugging gaps between tracks. A trio of songs from the debut – “I Don’t Care,” “Tidal Wave,” and “Will Not Win” kept the flow of the show moving and set the bar for two newer tracks – “Hope It Hurts” and “Left Behind” that showed growth in the bands sound and writing. If tonight’s set, closed out with “Hate,” is any indicator, tickets are only going to get harder to pick up for this run. Get yours and enjoy a great night of rock and roll.
Setlist: Athena – Champion – Run – Sober – Kill the Noise – Walk Away – Find the Beautiful – Better Off Alone – Barracuda – I Don’t Care – Tidal Wave – Will Not Win – Hope It Hurts – Left Behind – Hate
