Laughs, Legends and New Faces: Perth Comedy Festival Gears Up for 2025

Prepare for a month of non-stop laughter as the Perth Comedy Festival returns from April 21 – May 18, featuring an incredible lineup of comedy legends and rising stars.

From the United Kingdom, we welcome the return of former doctor turned comedian, Adam Kay (UK), withThis Is Going To Hurt – a hilarious live show about life on and off the hospital wards. A breakaway hit in the UK, it’s been seen by over 300,000 people, including 50 sell-out nights in the West End.

One third of Aunty Donna and as recently on Fisk and Colin from Accounts, Broden Kelly goes on his first national solo tour with Yabusele – a show containing “swearing and cool stuff” which hits Perth on May 17 at The Rechabite.

We’re excited to present a debut performance from Tom Allen (UK), whose career took off in 2005 when he won the talent competitions So You Think You’re Funny and the BBC New Comedy award. Allen has since become a household name, hosting shows like The Apprentice: You’re Fired!, Cooking with the Stars and The Great British Bake Off: Extra Slice. Known for his sharp wit and riotous storytelling, he’s sure to captivate Perth audiences seeing him for the first time down under.

Fellow English comedians Jake Lambert (UK) and Nish Kumar (UK) also pop their Perth Comedy Festival cherries. Lambert has quickly risen through the comedy ranks, with his viral Instagram clips showcasing his hilarious take on modern life. Whilst Kumar, recently recognised by The Guardian and The Telegraph as one of the 50 Best Comedians of the 21st Century, is known for his sharp political humour.

Of no relation to the UK Kumar, the festival also welcomes the return of Singapore’s Kumar (SG), who brings his fabulously bold and unapologetic humour to the stage once again, guaranteeing an unforgettable performance on May 3.

Then we have Vivek Mahbubani (HKG), multi-award-winning comedian and bilingual stand-up king from Hong Kong, performing his stand-up routine entirely in Cantonese.

Aussie comedians include former teacher, postie, Australian Rules Footballer, world-wide wanderer and multi-award winning comedian, Sean ‘Woody’ Woodland, whose rapid-fire jokes and energetic style have earned him a loyal following; former garbo/current stonemason, Rohan Arneil, who delivers an hour of jokes and stories from a man that’s worked every job known to mankind in The Never-Ending Smoko; actor, podcast host, performer and comedian with the gift of the gab, Ruby Teys; Korean-Australian comedian Harry Junand the WA Comedy All Stars returns with the best of WA talent at the Rechabite on May 17.
