Wrapping up the trio of discs that make up The Lickerish Quartet’s Threesome, Vol. 3 comes at us with four more slabs of goodness that not only build on the other tracks, but help tie them all together sonically. Disc opener “Fortunately” is my favorite of the lot, including the tracks from the previous two releases that make up this musical hat trick. The overall vibe of this track brings a rock vibe and weaves in an almost “yacht rock” texture that keeps this song light, lively, and overall a great listen. The swirl of layered vocals takes this track to the next level. “New Days” is very similar to the track from teh previous discs, with cool flashes and glimmers of the Imperial Drag days of two members. The trios grasp of 70’s rock and the different sounds and grooves that are combined to create the music is unlike any I have heard, well since the 70’s anyway. “You All Alone” has a cool intro that deviates from the path cute by the other songs here, but soon the vocals kick in and quickly the musical accompaniment is in full force and we are handed another cool rocker that shows off influences tossed into the mix with the groups own musical talent. The guitar work intensifies slightly and the vocals seem stronger, especially as the choruses move through. Disc closer “In The Meantime” brings us full circle from the opening of the “Fadoodle” on the first EP back in May of 2020. The guitars, drums, and bass in the mix perfectly accompany the vocals and keep things moving without rushing the pace of the track. While I will miss the next installment on this closed endeavor, I cannot wait to hear what Roger Joseph Manning Jr., Eric Dover, and Tim Smith have planned for us.
