A Dirty Dozen with RALPH BUSO from RAVENSCROFT – March 2020
According to a recent press release: “Ravenscroft is a seasoned foursome of musicians whose individual personalities and styles present raw, driven alternative rock. Inspired by the legends of the past as well as the trailblazers of today, the RC crew continues to show the world they are ready to dominate. With their latest album See Through, Ravenscroft is poised to take the world by storm. Without compromising sound and not being limited by one style, Ravenscroft manages to explore an audio universe which delivers pounding metal riffs along with melodic ballads that captivate audiences and leaves them wanting more.” We get singer Ralph to discuss new music, influences, and much more…
1. Tell us a little about your latest release. What might a fan or listener not grab the first or second time they listen through? Are there any hidden nuggets the band put in the material or that only diehard fans might find?
“Rebel” was exactly what the title suggest! It was a rebellion against Politics, organized religion, and fanatical views!
2. What got you into music, and can you tell us about the moment you realized you wanted to be a musician?
Music to me, is a magical pathway to self healing and redemption! It allows you to both vent your most private issues (Personal Demons), and all the while to a groove that will either motivate you or soothe your soul!
3. Building on that, is there a specific song, album, performer, or live show that guided your musical taste?
For me personally, it was NIN (Trent Reznor) that truly inspired me to move forward with my musical endeavors! Hence, the cover of “Head Like A Hole.”
4. Who would be your main five musical influences?
NIN, CCR, Disturbed, Rob Zombie, and Shinedown.
5. If you could call in any one collaborator to do a song with, who would it be, and why?
Trent Reznor…Cause that dude gets it!
6. How would you describe your music to someone who’d never listened to you before? What is the one comparison a reviewer or fan has made that made you cringe or you disagreed with?
Extremely passionate, and drivin! I honestly have never heard a comparison I disagree with.
7. What’s the best thing about being a musician?
The creative aspect without a doubt!
8. When the band are all hanging out together, who cooks; who get s the drinks in; and who is first to crack out the acoustic guitars for a singalong?
We all hang out, and have a good time from time to time. However we all have different eating and drinking habits.
9. When was the last time you were star struck and who was it?
Unfortunately, my answer on this question is very boring…I have never been star struck. We are all just human after all.
10. If you weren’t a musician, what would be your dream job?
I thought about becoming a professional boxer, but I love music much more!
11. Looking back over your career, is there a single moment or situation you feel was a misstep or you would like to have a “do over”, even if it didn’t change your current situation?
There are always missteps… this just like any other career has it’s learning curves!
12. If you could magically go back in time and be a part of the recording sessions for any one record in history, which would you choose – and what does that record mean to you?
Probably Pretty Hate Machine by NIN. It truly inspired me to make music!
