Disc opener “Memphis” is a catchy track that marries a darker pop sensibility with a cool rock vibe, without veering too far into either territory. The lyrics are fun and the musical components of the song are fun. The cadence of the track sets the pace for the EP and the contagious chorus keeps you coming back time and time again to check out this track. “ME” is a great song that kicks off with a Cure-ish guitar sound, which captivated me immediately. The song has a great indie rock sound that adopts the poppy vibe of the opening track, giving the disc a killer one-two punch to start things off. Title track “Goodbye Honeymoon Phase” has a more polished sound that adds depth to the bands sound on this short collection. The layered vocals give the song punch, as does the sound effects swirled in. The chorus is fun and has a cool party vibe woven into it that permeates the verse as well. “Distraction” is a sonic left turn for the EP, but it fits within the confines of the songs here, thanks to the vocals and varied musical sounds thrown into the mix. Be sure to hang out long enough to catch the guitars tossed into the second verse, as that’s where I seemed to hear them most prominently. Disc closer “Friday’s No Fun Anymore” has a familiar sound and groove that escapes me every time I listen to it. The vocals are rich and standout from the first word to the last. While not as contagious or fun as other tracks on the EP, it is still very enjoyable and listenable. If this EP is any indicator, I cannot wait for a full length from the band.
